I love jump and runs, I love a creative approach to game and level design and I love good music. Those are also the things I found in this game.At first the game seems pretty simple and straight forward. But the design is so clever, the mechanics so precise and creatively used that the game just elevates itself far above the crowd of "normal" games. Every time you think you know what to expect the game switches up mechanics, uses old mechanics in new ways and makes you approach a problem completely different than in the last level you played.Add to that a pulsing soundtrack which gives you the rhythm to solve some puzzles or conquer some of the most precise platforming obstacles I have ever witnessed.I love this game. I haven't even nearly 100%ed it and haven't even tried the things you unlock post game, but let me tell you: this is a masterpiece. Absolutely worth your time and money, so stop reading and go play it now!TLDR: Imagine Meatboy level of precise movement with the creativity on overdrive and a fistful of LSD in your system.10/10 will definitely play again!. got it for less then 1$. The best game of 2018 and one of the best platformers of all time.. OMG I JUST DANCED 10 MINUTES STRAIGHT! THE PUMPING EDM MUSIC OF THE SECOND LEVEL IS TOO AWESOME!CAAAAN'T STOOOOOP, WOOOON'T STOOOOOOP! ♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪ \\(◕ヮ◕)/ ♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪BEST DANCE MUSIC EVER IN A NON-RYTHM GAME!SUCH POLISH, MUCH WOW!You know you've got a polished game, when DS4 controller is supported and has its button symbols in the game.I completed all levels and got all medals, also the plus variation of Time and Deus medal and I can say that many levels are pretty challenging. For me speedrunning the levels is the most fun. There are also some nice achievements where you need to not touch the floor or avoid all pickups or not get detected and such. For hardcore gamers there is even more challenging stuff after you complete the game. With this wide spectrum of challenges this game is not only a platformer but also a puzzle game, racing game, stealth game and all of its own.<3. Initial Review: Will update as I progress8/10 OverwallThe graphics and music are perfect the levels are tough and fun. The response time on some abilities seems lacking compared to actions of the zone around you. I had some life loss situations when hitting the appropriate key for an action but it happens slower than expected. Othertimes right on time. I am not sure if this is a bug or intended but as it is a percision game, it was a little bothersome. Overall I love this game and can not wait to put more time into it!+. Puzzle platformer might be one of the most saturated game genres out there and it might often feel like every conceivable idea or gimmick has already been explored. However, Octahedron's core special mechanic of making your own platforms out of thin air is simply genius. The level design itself is amazing, with most levels truly having their own identity, but even beyond that there's a huge difference in playstyle between a level which allows you one platform or fifty of them, elevating the variety and fun when going from level to level much higher than is usual for games of this genre. Most of the game had just the right difficulty level for me, difficult enough to be enjoyable but not too hard to feel like you're constantly hitting brick walls and getting frustrated (although 5-Δ is a real difficulty spike). I also really liked that if you're observant enough you can spot the secret areas. The final area is a bit weird (and surprisingly easy) and the final boss is a bit finger-numbing, but overall Octahedron has quickly replaced Super Meat Boy as my favourite platformer ever.. This game's unreal. It's stylish from the moment you start it up, and really easy to pick up and play. I was (pun intended) transfixed from the moment I started playing it, and have gotten amazing value out of the game so far (all achievements in just under 40 hours). The game encourages multiple playthroughs of each level, and each time you will be approaching the level differently to earn different medals for fast completion, collecting 100% of the items in the level, and efficient platforming.Octahedron is never boring. It's constantly evolving how you play the game through clever level design and upgrading of your platform, but it also never gets too complicated. It remains, from start to finish, a game about timing your jumps and platforms to get to the end of the level, and never loses its way. The soundtrack is absolutely incredible, and is almost worth the price on its own. I would highly recommend buying the collectors edition if you enjoy electronica/synth/chiptune type music.Any issues I have with the game are so unbelievably minor that they're almost not worth mentioning. There are a couple collectables in certain levels that require almost perfect timing and spike the difficulty a little high from what you're used to in the rest of the game. Not necessarily a bad thing, but caused some frustration at certain points. The game can also, at times, strain your hands on some of the longer levels that require constant jumping/platforming, depending on how you're playing (on keyboard, in my case). It's very rare that this happens though, as most levels don't take longer than 2-4 minutes on average.9.5/10. A great example of an indie game done right. Gameplay is simple yet very fun. There are not sudden difficulty spikes which many indies suffer from. Recommended if you enjoy challenging platformers.. Great music..great challenges...great game. What an incredible experience. This is the most fun I've had with an action platformer in a while. I died plenty of times, and rage quit again and again, but always went back. The game delivers on its core gimmick (creating platforms on the fly) with fantastic level design and clever puzzles. Also there are some really nice QOL options like easy mode and a speedrun timer. One thing it's sadly lacking is a quick restart button. It does get a little chaotic in the later stages, and timings become tighter.
